Countries We Serve

Brazil

Brazil is the largest country and economy in Latin America, but exhibits a disparity of income with 10% of the population possessing 47% of the national income. Brazil has an estimated population of approximately 200.4 million people and 200,000 children living in institutions. Poverty is the primary factor causing boys and girls to be placed in orphanages and shelters. Portuguese is the official and national language of Brazil; it is widely spoken by most of the population.

Bulgaria

The Republic of Bulgaria is a diverse country of 7.3 million people, bordered by Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey, and the Black Sea. The majority of the people are of Bulgarian ancestry, but there are many minority groups represented, most notably the Turkish and Roma population. The official language is Bulgarian, the oldest written Slavic language.

China

China is a wonderfully diverse country, full of history, amazing sights, wonderful food and warm, welcoming people. Not surprisingly, however, it is different from the United States in every conceivable way (including having opposite days and nights). Time for families to adjust to the time change and initial culture shock is specifically built into the two-week trip. Chinese speakers typically use a dialect that belongs to one of these 7 groups of languages: Mandarin, Yue (Cantonese), Xiang (Hunanese), Min, Gan, Wu and Kejia or Hakka.

Haiti

Haiti lies approximately 50 miles southeast of Cuba and is considered part of the West Indies. Haiti’s culture is a vibrant mixture of African, French, Indian, British and Spanish influences. Haiti is considered the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, over 70% of the adult population is unemployed. Due to much political unrest and dire economic circumstances, there are many beautiful children who become available for adoption. The official languages of Haiti are Haitian Creole and French. Other languages spoken in the country include Spanish and English.

Philippines

More than 7,100 islands make up the Philippines archipelago between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea, east of Vietnam. The third largest English speaking country in the world (behind the U.S. and the U.K.), the Philippines has a rich history combining Asian, European and American influences. There are over 170 languages spoken in the Philippines. The country’s official languages are Filipino (based on Tagalog) and English, with Cebuano and Ilocano also popular in many regions.

Ukraine

A republic of over 44 million people and slightly smaller than the state of Texas, Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and borders Russia, Belarus, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova. Ukraine is a land of wide, fertile agricultural plains, with large pockets of heavy industry in the east. The official language of Ukraine is Ukrainian, though there are as many as twelve regionally recognized languages as well. Ukraine has everything from almost 1,800 miles of coastline along the Black Sea to mountains over a mile high in the west.
